The Physics Institute

The Physics Institute of the Fluminense Federal University hosts a single Physics Department with Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Physics.

In the Institute we can find:

• Research Laboratories
• Didactic Laboratories - used in disciplines taught by the Physics Department.
• Computing laboratories for undergrad and Graduate students.
• The Physics Library
• Electronics and Mechanical Workshops
• The offices for the Institute, Department, Graduate and Undergraduate Physics courses, and the office for the latu sensu Graduate degree in Science Teaching (Physics and Sciences).
• The House of Discovery (Casa da Descoberta) - dedicated to spreading knowledge about science among the general public, including high- and middle-school students.

The Physics Department

The Physics Department at UFF is responsable for courses that serve different undergraduate courses at the university: Architecture, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Physics, Geography, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry. It also provides Graduate courses for the lato sensu course in Science teaching and stricto sensu - Master's and Doctorate degrees - in Physics. On average, each semester the Department is responsible for teaching around 2000 students.
